Ubisoft is reportedly planning on releasing at minimum, another nine Assassin’s Creed games, with six said to be currently in development. This would set up the AC franchise for at least the next few years. Details of the upcoming AC plans from Ubisoft come from Insider Gaming, noting that the company is “going all in on Assassin’s Creed,” according to one source.

The six games currently in development are also games you might already be aware of. Because Ubisoft has already announced some of them. The first is Assassin’s Creed Mirage. The publisher’s next AC game that is said to bring things back to the roots of the franchise. It has an estimated planned release date of sometime in August of this year. As long as there are no delays that get it pushed back beyond that point. This is said to be followed by an Assassin’s Creed VR game that Ubisoft will announce at E3 and release after Mirage, but in the same year.

The next is Codename Red. Which revolves around the highly requested theme of ninjas in Japan, slated for a rumored release in 2024. It’ll have “a strong focus on stealth” and feature two playable characters. This will be followed by the multiplayer Assassin’s Creed ‘Invictus’ title in 2025, and Codename Hexe in 2026. Codename Jade is also currently in development but it isn’t mentioned when this might release.

Outside of development, Ubisoft has three more Assassin’s Creed games in planning

Six more Assassin’s Creed games is a lot on the plate. Especially with most of them set to release within the next five years. But the publisher reportedly has even more titles in the planning stages. Each title is pitched with a unique spin on the franchise and will feature different gameplay from other titles.

The first, Project Nebula, is pitched as a game with three different settings that include India, the Aztec Empire, and the Mediterranean. Another title in planning is called Project Raid, and is said to be a PvE-based free-to-play game with 4-player co-op. The third game is called Project Echoes. Pitched as another multiplayer title in the franchise.

Annual release cycles are back

It’s not clear how long Ubisoft plans to keep to this development cycle, but it will reportedly be moving back to releasing a new AC game every year. Which makes sense given how many games are already in development. Major entries will also be “significantly different from the last” to give players a fresh experience with each title.
