WhatsApp is an incredibly useful platform, and it’s been the communication platform for a ton of businesses and friend groups around the world. It’s a reliable communication platform, but it’s no stranger to occasional bugs. According to a tweet from @BruteBee, a very innocuous link is causing WhatsApp to enter a crash loop when you type it in.

As always, you should be careful about which links you open on any social media platform. If someone sends you a link, it could be tough to know if it sends you to a malicious website. However, in this case, the link is a very basic and common link used by WhatsApp.

This link is causing WhatsApp to constantly crash

The link in question is “wa.me/settings”. Yes, this is the basic link to just send you to your WhatsApp settings. So, it’s a native link that sends you to a core WhatsApp function. However, as spotted in version 2.23.10.77 of the Android app, this link will cost the app to crash immediately upon tapping it.

Not only that, but the app will continue to crash when you try to access the chat again. So, this link causes WhatsApp to enter a crash Loop, and that could be very frustrating.

According to Android Authority, there is a workaround, but it comes at a cost. What you have to do is access WhatsApp on your desktop. From there, you will have to delete that chat. For the time being, that seems to be the only way to fix this. We’re not sure if WhatsApp is aware of this issue, but we know that a fix will come out for it before too long.

In the meantime, just be careful of this link. Fixing this issue causes you to delete an entire conversation. That can be a huge inconvenience if it’s a conversation that’s very important.
