Towers and Titans is a graphically impressive tower defence game from Rumble Games, the studio behind Alliance: Heroes of the Spire.

It’s also the latest new addition to the cutting edge world of blockchain gaming, and you can get in on the all-important ground floor by joining the playtest right now.

For the uninitiated, blockchain games are games that make use of blockchain technology – i.e., the stuff that powers cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Etherium.

Blockchain games let you earn, buy, own, and sell unique digital assets called NFTs. It’s possible to list the Titans and Equipment that you obtain in Towers and Titans on the in-game marketplace and trade them for cash.

And the beauty is, you can earn them through graft, talent, and simple gaming prowess, thanks to the incorporation of web3.

Rumble Games is clearly passionate about the concept of a free-to-play game that actually lets you earn NFTs through gameplay.

“People should own what they are spending currency or time collecting,” the team says. “We want to keep it simple, what you earn is yours to own (or sell), as it always should be in games in this day and age where it’s an option.”

Amassing a collection of practical and valuable Titans and equipment items is a worthwhile goal in itself, but Towers and Titans wouldn’t get far without some solid gameplay and presentation.

Fortunately, Rumble Games has ploughed two years of development time into the gameplay alone.

Even without NFTs, Towers and Titans is shaping up to be one of the slickest tower defence games around, with a tactically rich solo campaign, PvP, PvE, challenging bosses, and more. As with all the best tower defence titles, each stage is an intricate puzzle to solve.

It looks solid, too, with a variety of colourful and detailed 3D environments and some seriously impressive character models: the Titans.

These Titans aren’t purely cosmetic. There’s a huge amount of variety and utility even among Titans of the same class.

Titans can belong to one of four classes. There are Healers, Melee DPS, Ranged DPS, and Specialists. Plus, each one is aligned with Fire, Nature, Water, Light, or Dark. These elements all interact like rock, paper, and scissors, giving you an added tactical consideration when composing your squads.

There’s more. Titans also have their own unique Traits, Skills, Personalities, and upgrade paths. Towers and Titans features five different star levels, along with evolution and ascension for characters that you’ve topped out.

Rumble Games has more than 400 different Titans in the works, so the number of potential combinations is basically limitless.

The studio will host its first Titan NFT sale towards the end of the year, while Towers and Titans itself is set to arrive on PC, iOS, and Android at some point in 2023.

Before then you’ll be able to take part in AMAs, giveaways, and a ton of other dev-hosted events.

To get yourself whitelisted, follow Towers and Titans on the game’s official website, Discord, Twitter, Instagram, and Medium.
