The ZTE Axon 50 Ultra is now official. The phone comes with two-way satellite messaging, and a rather nice spec sheet. It got announced in China, and for the Chinese market, at least for now.
The phone actually resembles the Galaxy S23 Ultra from the front, but it looks completely different from the back. It includes a display camera hole up top, and a curved display. Its top and bottom sides are flat.

There are three cameras on the back of this phone, and they’re aligned vertically, from the larger sensors, to the smallest one. AXON branding is visible on the back too, it’s placed next to the cameras. There is also a red-colored power/lock button on the right, below the volume rocker buttons.
Now, two-way satellite messaging is possible over the BeiDou satellite (BDS) infrastructure. That way, you’ll be able to send and receive SMS messages even in areas without a proper network connection.
The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC fuels this phone, while ZTE also included LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 flash storage here. The phone features a 6.67-inch fullHD+ AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate.
It has ZTE’s security chip on the inside, while Android 13 comes out of the box
The phone also comes with ZTE’s own security chip, and hardware-level encryption. Android 13 comes pre-installed, while ZTE’s MyOS 13 skin is included on top of it.
A 5,000mAh battery is included on the inside, while the phone supports 80W wired charging. The charger is included, but wireless charging is not supported at all here.
A 64-megapixel main camera (Sony’s IMX787 sensor, OIS) is backed by a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 50-megapixel telephoto unit (3x optical zoom). The phone also includes stereo speakers (DTS:X).
The company did not provide any availability or pricing info just yet.
