The Roku Channel’s first feature-length original film Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas will reunite most of the cast from the original show.
Roku’s Emmy-winning original show, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, is getting a full-length feature film (a first for the streaming site). Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas will be picking up after the second season of the original show on Roku and the Golden Globe-nominated original cast will be reprising their roles as well.
The streaming platform recently revealed a trailer for the upcoming holiday film, featuring all the beloved characters from the show and promising a blend of drama, crisis, festive frolic, and a beautiful musical number from Alex Newell as Mo.
The story follows Zoey’s life after the second season of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist as she tries to find her way through work, family, love, and everything in between. This is her first Christmas without her father, and she tries to create a magical Christmas for her family just like the ones Mitch used to do.
Even those unfamiliar with the show will be able to enjoy it, as the Roku official blog puts it:
Don’t worry if you’ve never seen the show – Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas is something that anyone who wants to get into the holiday spirit will be able to enjoy.
Before the much-awaited holiday film hits the platform, Roku has made the entire run of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist available for free on the streaming platform. Fans can now stream all the 25 episodes of this Emmy-nominated show for free. As for the direction the show will take following the events of Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas, it remains to be seen.
A reunion of the original cast of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist is something to look forward to, given their incredible performances in the show that earned them a Golden-Globe nomination.
