YouTube is one of the go-to sources of entertainment for many. This is why the company does its best to keep the video-streaming platform free of issues and bugs. However, multiple YouTube users on iOS complained about low-quality playback issues in the past few weeks. The company has now confirmed that it has fixed the bug that triggered low-quality video playback for iOS YouTube users.
YouTube has fixed the bug causing low-quality video playback on YouTube for iOS
Over the past few weeks, a bug troubled multiple YouTube users on iOS and iPadOS, triggering low-quality video playback when watching regular videos or Shorts. The bug limited the quality of YouTube videos to 144p, 240p, and in some cases 360p.
Unfortunately, the issue was widespread which led Google to come forward and acknowledge it. Google posted an update on its Help Community, confirming that the bug didn’t only trouble iOS and iPadOS users. Those watching YouTube videos on desktops and smart TVs were also experiencing the problem. Google has now fixed the bug that caused low-quality YouTube video playback on iOS.
Today, folks over at 9to5Google reported spotting an update from the company. Google has now updated the original post from last week and mentioned, “Quick update: This is fixed. All streaming should be back to normal now!” The company appears to have fixed things from its end rather than with any app updates.
There’s no word on what triggered the bug
Google is still mum on what actually caused the low-quality video playback for YouTube users on iOS. However, one Reddit user claimed to have experienced the issue after an iOS update, pushed a few weeks ago by Apple. If you are among the affected ones, don’t forget to check by playing YouTube videos or Shorts on your iOS and iPadOS devices.
