After leaving a trail of bodies in his wake, will Joe finally get his comeuppance in the fifth and final season of You? Fans will get to learn sooner rather than later, as filming for the fifth season of You is due to begin in Spring 2024.
It was hard to miss, but after the success of You season 4, Netflix confirmed that the series would be returning for a fifth and final season.
Production on the fifth season was delayed heavily due to the WGA strike that began on May 1st, 2023. At the time, it was improbable the scripts were finished. The strikes officially ended on September 27th, 2023, which allowed writers to return and continue projects.
Since the WGA Strike and SAG-AFTRA strikes ended, production has started on the fifth season of Stranger Things, the final season of The Umbrella Academy, The Sandman season 2 resumes filming, Emily in Paris season 4, and The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 has begun filming.
As for the fifth and final season of You, we’ve recently learned from multiple sources that filming is due to begin in Spring 2024.
Filming is rumored to start in New York City, New York, in late March 2024 and is expected to run until early August 2024.
When will You Season 5 be on Netflix?
The biggest question on fans’ minds is when the fifth season will be released on Netflix. We can use the release of the previous season to help speculate a potential release.
The fourth You season was filmed between March 22nd, 2022, and August 29th, 2022. Part 1 arrived several months later, on February 2nd, 2023. Part 2 came a month later, on March 3rd.
With the fifth season rumored to follow a similar filming schedule, we could see the series return to Netflix as early as February 2025.
What to expect from the fifth and final season of You
Over the years, Joe has murdered or indirectly led to the death of many people. Anyone lucky enough to still be alive after crossing paths with Joe has more than likely had their lives ruined by the charming serial killer bookworm.
Thanks to his new partner, Kate, and a limitless supply of money, Joe has wiped the slate clean and returned to New York City.
We expect Joe’s past to come back to haunt him, which should inevitably end with his downfall. Whether or not this leads to his arrest or death remains unclear, but one thing’s for sure: the clock will be ticking for Joe.
