If you’re using the Google Gemini app, you’re probably accustomed to either typing/speaking your queries or uploading images. However, Gemini can analyze more types of content than that. Shortly after allowing users to upload files on the web, Google now lets people upload files to the Gemini app.

The Gemini app is hands-down one of the best ways to access Gemini if you don’t know. It can integrate with your system and perform a few functions that you can with Google Assistant. However, it’s still not as deeply integrated as the Assistant at the moment. There are some cool features like the “Ask about screen” feature. You can download it today for free.

You’re likely to save your serious business tasks for when you’re at your computer, but that’s not always the case. If you need to have a document analyzed and summarized, you have a computer in your pocket. This is why Google is bringing this functionality to the mobile app.

On the latest version of the app, you’re able to upload different types of text files including TXT, DOC, DOCX, PDF, RTF, DOT, DOTX, HWP, HWPX, and Google Doc files.

That’s not all, as you’re able to upload tabular data files: CSV and TSV. Lastly, you’re able to upload spreadsheet files: Google Sheet files, XLS, and XLSX.

This is a wide range of documents and you’re sure to love this feature. However, as with most neat features, there’s a catch. You can only use this feature if you’re using Gemini Advanced. In order to get Gemini Advanced, you’ll need to sign up for the $19.99/month Google One AI Premium payment tier. This will give you access to the most powerful Gemini model.

Also, if you order a Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, or a Pixel 9 Pro Fold, between now and October 31st, you’ll get a full year of Gemini Advanced for free.
