It’s a general consensus that internet trolls are the worst. This is the reason why the largest photo-sharing social media platform just implemented a new feature. Now, Instagram Live lets you assign moderators.
Platforms like Twitch, Reddit, etc are made so much better due to moderators. They delete unneeded comments and ban those who post them. Having a team of moderators can really make or break a live streaming session.
Instagram adds moderators to live streams
Meta-owned Instagram is no stranger to the live streaming game. You’ve been able to host streams to your audience for years now. The issue is that not everyone in that audience makes the best comments. Some comments can be irrelevant or nonsensical, which is annoying enough.
However, other comments can be downright abusive. This is a major issue affecting female streamers, LGBTQ+ streamers, and streamers in certain ethnic groups. Having a proper filter to shoo the bad comments and keep the good ones is always welcome.
Thankfully, Instagram provided a filter. According to Engadget, the company introduced moderators for Instagram live streams. Like with any platform, the streamer can choose trusted users to moderate their streams.
Assigning moderators is quick and easy
No one likes wading through unwanted comments during a live stream, so Instagram makes the process of assigning a moderator a breeze. During a live stream, you can go to the menu bar. From there, tap the option to add a moderator. Then, search through the list of people to find the one you’re looking for.
A moderator can do a couple of actions to police your comment section. They can report a specific comment. Also, they can turn off commenting altogether for a user. Last, but not least, a moderator can kick a user out of the live stream.
You can start adding moderators to your live streams today. This feature is available for both Android and iOS at the same time, which is always a treat.
