Xiaomi, unfortunately, isn’t a company that’s really known outside of China. It was the biggest tech brand in China before Huawei overtook it a few years ago. The company has its own smartwatches, and it’s getting ready to launch its next one. The Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro was just shown off in some leaked renders, and rumor has it that this will be the company’s first smartwatch to run Wear OS.
After Wear OS 3 launched, Google has been doing more work and more consistent updates for its wearables platform. Many different smartwatch makers implement Wear OS, but Xiaomo has resisted doing this in lieu of its own proprietary software.
However, the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro could run Wear OS
The news about the watch came from @mysterylupin on Twitter. Since this is a rumor, you’ll want to take this news with a grain of salt. The Xiaomi Watch 2 Watch is set to be a premium smartwatch with a stainless steel body. Its screen could measure 1.43 inches with a type of Gorilla Glass. The resolution could be 466 x 466, and the rumor points to it being an AMOLED display.
Moving onto the internals, the leak states that this watch could use the Snapdragon E5+ wearable SoC. This is the first wearable SoC from Qualcomm, and it should give it great performance. Backing it up, the watch might have 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. This means that there will be enough storage to download all the apps you want
Keeping the lights on, we might give a large 500mAh battery. Xiaomi’s smartwatches usually have good battery life, so this one should hopefully continue that tradition.
To navigate the software, you’ll use the rotating crown. on the side of the watch. There are also two buttons that you’ll use to perform different actions.
The most notable thing about this smartwatch is the software it can run. The leak says that this watch will run WearOS, though you might not recognize it. Xiaomi is expected to use its own WearOS skin. It will be similar to how Android manufacturers have their own Android skins.
If you want to know more about this watch, stay tuned for more updates.
