The upcoming Xiaomi 15 smartphone would be the first to feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. Incidentally, the Xiaomi 14 series was the first to debut with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.
Xiaomi 15 series will be first to utilize Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset
Xiaomi has a proven track record of snagging and embedding Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon processors in its high-end smartphones before the competition. Released way back in 2013, the Xiaomi Mi 3 packed the Snapdragon 800 SoC.
According to synthetic benchmark tests, the Snapdragon 800 chipset chipset made it the fastest Android smartphone at the time. And this was just the beginning of Xiaomi’s partnership with Qualcomm.
Xiaomi’s official representative has confirmed that the Xiaomi 15 series will be the first to launch with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, next month.

It appears Xiaomi is not going to break the pattern, indicated Xiaomi Group partner and president. In a post on a Chinese social media platform, Lu Weibing revealed that the company will soon debut its new flagship platform.
He mentioned the platform will have three “super features” that will redefine performance: ultra-high clock speeds, super performance, and ultra-low power consumption. Coupled with system kernel optimization from Xiaomi, the upcoming device will have “the most significant performance leap in history [for Xiaomi devices]”, he added

He concluded his post by proclaiming, “the turning point of the chip industry has arrived”. Weibing did not specifically mention the device will feature Qualcomm’s most powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen4 chipset. However, his choice of words strongly indicate that Xiaomi 15 smartphone would have the latest flagship from Qualcomm.
Qualcomm flagship to offer desktop-grade performance?
Qualcomm is expected to officially announce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC at the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit 2024, scheduled to start on October 21. Xiaomi’s president reportedly claimed, “The year 2024 marks a turning point for the chip industry, and in the coming month or so, everyone will witness this transformation!”
He also implied that the two top-tier players in the industry have both committed to ‘dual super-large cores,’ and the results will soon be revealed.” Recent reports have indicated that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 has been built with a desktop-level micro-architecture.
Perhaps the only other chipset that could challenge Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship chipset, is the MediaTek Dimensity 9400. However, it takes a lot more than powerful CPU and GPU cores for flagship performance. Weibing stated Xiaomi 15 again gains an advantage with its combination of advanced architecture and system-level optimizations.
