Xiaomi announced two of its flagships yesterday, the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro. The Xiaomi 12 Ultra didn’t launch during this China event, but it is expected to launch globally in Q1 2022. Now, considering that the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro stole the show, the Xiaomi 12X was overlooked by many, even though it arrived during the same event.
The Xiaomi 12X is an immensely powerful mid-range smartphone
The Xiaomi 12X is actually an immensely powerful mid-ranger, and many people may opt for it instead of the company’s flagships. This handset is likely coming to global markets, along with the Xiaomi 12, and the upcoming Xiaomi 12 Ultra.
The Xiaomi 12X does look very similar to its siblings, many people would find it hard to differentiate this phone from the other two, especially the Xiaomi 12. The two phones are identical even when it comes to dimensions.
In fact, the Xiaomi 12X has the same display, cameras, battery, and wired charging as its sibling. Xiaomi even opted to use LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 flash storage here.
The Xiaomi 12X is made out of metal and glass, while it features a curved display, with very thin bezels. Its back side is curved towards the sides, and its camera module looks identical to the one on the Xiaomi 12.

The Xiaomi 12X features a 6.28-inch fullHD+ (2400 x 1080) AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. That display gets quite bright at 1,100 nits of max brightness, and it supports HDR10+ content. It is protected by the Gorilla Glass Victus.
The Snapdragon 870 SoC fuels this phone, while Xiaomi included 8GB/12GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of storage. You cannot expand its storage, though, so keep that in mind. There are also two nano SIM card slots included.
MIUI 13 comes pre-installed on the phone, while a 4,500mAh battery is included. The phone supports 67W wired charging as the Xiaomi 12, but it doesn’t offer wireless charging nor reverse wireless charging.
It has three cameras on the back, and one on the front
A 50-megapixel main camera (Sony’s IMX766 sensor, f/1.88 aperture, OIS) is backed by a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera (123-degree FoV, f/2.4 aperture), and a 5-megapixel telemacro camera (f/2.4 aperture). A 32-megapixel selfie camera (80.5 FoV) can also be found on the phone.
The Xiaomi 12X comes with Bluetooth 5.1, and a Type-C port. It has two speakers, which offer Harman Kardon tuning. The phone measures 152.7 x 69.9 x 8.16mm, while it weighs 176 grams.
The Xiaomi 12X comes in Black, Blue, and Purple colors, at least in China. Its pricing starts at CNY3,199 ($502) for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model, so it’s less than $100 more affordable than the Xiaomi 12.
