Xiaomi announced two flagship smartphones in China today, the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro. We’ve already covered the main announcement of both phones, and are here to take a closer look at the Xiaomi 12 Pro specifications.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro is very similar to the Xiaomi 12 in some ways, but they’re not the same, not at all. The Xiaomi 12 Pro offers a larger and sharper display, along with some other goodies. Let’s take a look at what it has to offer on the specs side of things.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 fuels this smartphone, Qualcomm’s brand new flagship processor. The phone also comes with 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 flash storage. The 8GB RAM model comes in both storage options, while the 12GB RAM model includes 256GB of storage.
A 6.73-inch QHD+ (3200 x 1440) AMOLED display is included here. This is an LTPO display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and 480Hz touch sampling rate. Do note that the panel is curved, though. It does support HDR10 content, and it gets quite bright at 1,500 nits of peak brightness.
120W wired, and 50W wireless charging is supported
Xiaomi also included a 4,600mAh battery inside this phone, which does support fast charging. In fact, it supports blazing fast charging, up to 120W wired, and up to 50W wireless charging. It also offers 10W reverse wireless charging.
A Type-C USB port is placed at the bottom of the device, and the phone supports various charging standards including QC4, QC 3.0, PD3.0, and so on. There are also two speakers included on the phone, Harman Kardon speakers. The main one is bottom-firing, while the secondary sits above the display, and is front-facing.
There are three 50-megapixel cameras included on the back
What about the cameras? Well, Xiaomi included three 50-megapixel cameras on the back of this phone. The main 50-megapixel camera comes with Sony’s IMX707 sensor, we’re looking at 2.44um pixel size (thanks to pixel binning) here, and an f/1.9 aperture 7P lens with OIS.
The second 50-megapixel camera offers an f/1.9 aperture 5P (48mm) lens. The third 50-megapixel camera is an ultrawide one, with an f/2.2 aperture 6P lens, and a 115-degree FoV. A 32-megapixel camera sits on the front side of the device.
WiFi 6 is supported here, and the same goes for Bluetooth 5.2. An NFC chip is included, while the phone does support 5G connectivity, of course. Xiaomi announced four color options for the Xiaomi 12 Pro, black, purple, green, and blue. Android 12 comes pre-installed on the Xiaomi 12 Pro, along with Xiaomi’s MIUI 13.
There is a Vegan Leather model as well
The Xiaomi 12 Pro measures 163.6 x 74.6 x 8.16mm (8.66mm with the camera bump). The device weighs 205 grams, while the Vegan Leather model is slightly lighter at 204 grams. That’s not the difference you’ll feel, though, of course. The phone’s pricing starts at CNY4699 ($738) in China. The price will differ in the global markets.
