When is the iPhone 17 Release Date?

The iPhone 16 series debuted in September 2024, which has been the release schedule for the iPhone for many, many years now. And we expect to see the same for the iPhone 17.

This year, the iPhone 17 is slated to come in four models. The iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. And interestingly, each one is going to have its own camera setup. Meaning that the iPhone design will be far less boring this year.

Typically, when Apple releases a new model, like the “Plus” model, the iPhone X years ago, etc., it actually launches a few weeks after the rest of the iPhone models. So we could see the iPhone 17 Air launch later in September or in October 2025.

In April 2025, it was reported that Apple had finished its Engineering Validation Test (EVT) for at least one iPhone 17 model. This testing is done to ensure that the hardware works as it is expected to. There are still Design Validation Test (DVT) and Production Validation Test (PVT) stages that need to happen before the phones launch. This is a key milestone for the iPhone 17, however.

How much will the iPhone 17 cost?

We don’t yet have any confirmed prices for the iPhone 17, and given the current economic uncertainty, especially in the US, prices are expected to rise this year. Many analysts are expecting the iPhone 17 to cost $899, the iPhone 17 Pro models could cost as much as $1,500. Of course, we still need to see how the tariffs are going to play out for Apple, as President Trump is seemingly changing them daily.

It’s worth mentioning that the iPhone has not seen a true price increase in the US since the iPhone X launched. This is primarily because of the iPhone Upgrade Program and upgrade programs at carriers. Keeping the phone at the same price every year makes it easier for people to upgrade, as their monthly costs won’t increase.
