As we head into Memorial Day and the new month of June 2024, a big week of new Netflix releases is on the horizon. We’re referring to the number of releases and the caliber, too, with some big titles on the way.
As we cross into a new month, you’ll want to familiarize yourself with everything new coming to Netflix throughout June 2024, and you can do that with our comprehensive guide to the month’s new arrivals.
Finally, before we dig into our highlights for the week, you’ll want to check out these movies before they depart at the end of the week!
Most Anticipated New Releases on Netflix This Week
Your Honor (Seasons 1-2)
Coming to Netflix: Thursday
We kick off our highlights with a show we exclusively revealed was coming to Netflix: both seasons of the Showtime series Your Honor.
Starring Bryan Cranston, this is easily one of his best roles post-Breaking Bad, as he plays the role of Michael Desiato, a New Orleans judge who goes to great lengths to protect his son.
All 20 episodes drop on Thursday with other cast members in the show, including Hunter Doohan, Hope Davis, Sofia Black-D’Elia, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Michael Stuhlbarg, and Carmen Ejogo.
Eric (Limited Series)
Coming to Netflix: Thursday
Netflix’s big new release for the week is its brand new limited series, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Gaby Hoffmann, and McKinley Belcher III and was created by Abi Morgan OBE, the creator of River and The Split.
Set in New York City, this drama follows the desperate search of a young boy by his father after disappearing on the way to school and to help him (or hinder him) he’s joined by one of his puppets.
Just in case Eric wasn’t enough for you, Netflix is also getting its mitts on the Showtime limited series starring Cumberbatch in the form of Patrick Melrose, which is coming midway through the week.
Scavengers Reign (Season 1)
Coming to Netflix: Friday
As we first scooped, Netflix is getting the streaming rights to a Max Original this week with every episode of Scavengers Reign hitting the service just in time for the weekend.
Created by Joseph Bennett and Charles Huettner, the sci-fi animated series follows survivors of a cargo ship stranded on a remote alien planet.
Certified Fresh on RottenTomatoes, it appears that anyone who did check this show out on Max absolutely fell in love with it, and given we know that the creators behind the title are mounting a big campaign to rescue it, expect to see a lot of coverage for this in the weeks to come. Inkoo Kang for the New Yorker perhaps summarized all the reviews best, saying, “A triumph of imagination, using animation to bring wondrously unfamiliar flora and fauna to life.”
