It’s time for another look at what’s coming up in the week ahead, with lots of movies making their streaming debuts this week, plus a new animated series based on a card game and the final season of Vikings: Valhalla.

For a complete picture of what’s still to come to Netflix throughout the rest of July 2024, keep it locked here on What’s on Netflix. Want to look further ahead? We’ve begun putting together a list of the early titles announced for August 2024.

Now, let’s get into some highlights for this week:

Most Anticipated New Releases on Netflix This Week

The Long Game (2024)

Coming to Netflix: Friday

One of three movies and docs making their streaming debuts this week (i.e., the first time these have been available as part of a streaming subscription) is The Long Game, which only hit theaters a few months ago in April.

The film covers the true story of the unlikely team of youths who take the world of Golf by storm.

The movie’s cast includes Jay Hernandez, Dennis Quaid, Julian Works, Jaina Lee Ortiz, Oscar Nuñez, and Cheech Marin.

Exploding Kittens (Season 1) Netflix Original

Coming to Netflix: Friday

Exploding Kittens, based on the classic card game turned into a mobile game, hopes to end Netflix’s recent streak of poor-performing animated adult sitcoms available exclusively on Netflix Games.

“It’s the ultimate fight between good and evil when God and his nemesis, the spawn of Satan,” the synopsis reads, “are sent to Earth to live with humans — as talking cats.”

Among the voice cast for the series includes Tom Ellis (best known for playing the Devil himself on Lucifer), Kenny Yates, Suzy Nakamura, David Gborie, Ally Maki and Mark Proksch.

Vikings: Valhalla (Season 3)

Coming to Netflix: Thursday

Hopefully, going out with a bang is the historical drama that’s flown under the radar since its debut a couple of years ago. Serving as a sequel series to the main Vikings series (also streaming on Netflix in full), we’ve witnessed the stories of Leif Eriksson, Freydis Eriksdotter, Harald Sigurdsson, and many more.

Here’s what you can expect from the final season courtesy of Netflix:

“In pursuit of a new Viking home, our heroes must venture further than they ever have before. From Constantinople to Greenland to the edge of the known world. But before they can set sail for new horizons, they must travel back to where it all started for one last battle.”
