Nicolas Cage Confirms Talks to Lead Spider-Man Noir Live Action Series

Amazon’s Spider-Man Noir live-action series does want Nicolas Cage to reprise the role of the Marvel superhero.

Making clear that it is not endorsed or affiliated with Marvel Comics, Marvel Studios, Disney or Sony, the fan-film comes with the disclaimer that it is “based off of the characters of The Amazing Spider-Man comics by Marvel.” This proves to be an intriguing project for Riggs to fall into coming off the back of his years playing Carl Grimes in The Walking Dead, as it comes without studio backing or a huge publicity campaign.

What also sets this film apart from its Sony/Marvel counterparts, is that it takes the young Marvel hero in a dark, horror-orientated direction that his big screen adventures in the MCU have never ventured into. Many comments have compared the premise to James Gunn’s “evil Superman” movie, Brightburn, which skirted around copyright issues by playing it as loose as possible with the idea of an extraterrestrial being with superhuman powers crashing to Earth and being raised by a human couple.

Chandler Riggs’ Spider-Man Movie is a New Take on an Arachnid-Enhanced Hero

Given Spider-Man’s extensive history across various media, including eight live-action films, several MCU collaborations, and numerous animated and comic book interpretations, this new angle introduces a fresh, albeit eerie, take on the story of the young man bitten by a spider and gaining incredible powers.

The team behind the movie have already created several viral hits on their Locust Garden YouTube Channel, including the short horror take on Shrek’s Princess Fiona, which took the internet by storm in 2022, and with the trailer for The Spider racking up over 250K views by word of mouth alone, they look set to do the same thing again.

Directed and written by Andy Chen, with a production team comprising Artin John and Kealani Kitaura, The Spider also enlists actors including Caylee Cowan, Matthew Vorce, and Kyra Gardner, among others, which provides further reason for more people to check this out.

It seems that whether in front of the camera or working behind the scenes, Riggs has plenty to keep him occupied for some time to come.
