Customer base declined more than estimated in Q1 2025
Despite an increase in overall revenue, Verizon lost 289,000 wireless postpaid phone business and consumer subscribers. It exceeded the estimates for a loss of 197,000 subscribers. It’s worth mentioning that billed monthly, postpaid phone consumers are the highest spending wireless users for a telecom operator. So, despite losing a lot of postpaid users, the company managed to grow its Q1 2025 revenue.
Furthermore, Verizon announced that it added 339,000 internet subscribers. This helped the company’s wireless subscriber base reach 4.8 million. In Q1 2025, Verizon added 45,000 new subscribers to its Fios service, down from 53,000 in the same period in 2024. Verizon will continue adding more Fios subscribers as it will soon expand to nearly 30 US states following the Frontier acquisition.
