Valve has announced the Steam Deck OLED will come in a new White color. Valve’s Steam Deck has been a massive hit since its launch, and that popularity only increased with the launch of the limited edition transparent OLED model. You can no longer buy that transparent model officially through Valve. Those seeking something other than the standard matte black will have another choice soon, however.
The new limited edition White color will be available starting November 18 and it will retail for $679. It has all the same specs and components as the 1TB OLED model that you can buy right now. So users shouldn’t be worried about missing out on any potential performance or features. It does come with some cool extras though. These are again, the same as what you would get with the Black 1TB model, just in White. This includes a White outer shell for the Steam Deck itself. As well as a White case and a White microfiber cloth.
If you enjoy those sorts of details, you might want to try and scoop up one of these.
The Steam Deck OLED: Limited Edition White will be available in limited quantities
As you may have guessed, Valve will not have an overly abundant amount of these White Steam Deck OLEDs. It’s available in limited quantities which means it will probably sell out quickly. As is usually the case with these extremely popular items, expect some number of them to pop up on third-party reseller sites and apps like eBay and Mercari. Sales will open up promptly at 3PM PST on the day they go live.
You’ll want to be prepared to add one to your cart and buy it immediately if you plan to secure one. Valve also recommends adding the sale to your calendar. It even has buttons for Google Calendar, Outlook, and Apple Calendar on the product page.
If you miss out, you could opt for the ROG Ally X instead
It’s not exactly the same given it runs Windows 11, comes with a higher price tag, and isn’t white in color, but it does have advantages. The ROG Ally X comes with better battery life and better performance. Not to mention more RAM and the same 1TB of storage. There’s also the higher refresh rate. While you do have to spend $799, you’ll get arguably better performance with the ROG Ally X. At the very least, you’ll still thoroughly enjoy gaming on it.
I personally loved my Steam Deck but found that the ROG Ally X served my handheld gaming purposes better. Plus, you don’t have to worry about it being available in limited quantities.
