Samsung is readying multiple new Android tablets for launch in the second half of this year. We are expecting three Galaxy Tab S9 series flagship models and a couple of mid-range ones. The 5G-enabled US version of the Galaxy Tab S9+ recently appeared on the popular benchmarking platform Geekbench to confirm a few rumors.

As usual, the Geekbench entry doesn’t tell us the name of the device. But the model number SM-X818U is enough to tell us that it’s a 5G-enabled Galaxy Tab S9+ intended for the US market. The tablet will come in at least two more versions: SM-X810 (Wi-Fi Global) and SM-X816B (5G Global). The benchmark listing confirms the presence of the same overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor that powers the Galaxy S23 series globally. The device runs Android 13 and ships with 12GB of RAM, though there may be more RAM variants in the making.

The Galaxy Tab S9+ will be flanked by the Galaxy Tab S9 (SM-X710/SM-X716B/SM-X718U) and the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra (SM-X910/SM-X916B/SM-X918U). These two showed up on Geekbench last week. Additionally, the benchmarking platform revealed two more models — SM-X516B and SM-X616B. These appear to be part of the same series, but they feature a less powerful Exynos 1380 processor. By the looks of it, Samsung will launch these products as the Galaxy Tab S9 FE, though there haven’t been any rumors about a new FE tablet recently.

As far as the three flagship models are concerned, there’s no dearth of rumors about them. Samsung is giving them waterproofing for the first time this year. The entire lineup is said to get an AMOLED display as well. The base Galaxy Tab S8 shipped with an LCD screen last year. Stay tuned for more information.

S Pen for the Galaxy Tab S9 series gets FCC approval

Samsung’s upcoming flagship tablet lineup will support S Pen input. All five models should be compatible with the iconic stylus pen. The handy accessory that attaches magnetically to the back of the device was recently spotted in a Bluetooth certification listing. It confirmed the presence of the Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity standard.

The same S Pen (model number EJ-PX710) has appeared on the FCC website as well (via). The American regulatory body detailed its frequency range, power supply, antenna type, and more technical tidbits. While those details may hardly matter for most end users, FCC certification is an indication of a nearing launch of the Galaxy Tab S9 series. The new tablets will probably debut in August 2023, alongside new foldables and wearable products.
