Trump officials: start ‘stashing cash’ and stockpiling supplies immediately – ‘it would be stupid not to!’

Looks like they know something about the economy they’re keeping quiet.

The Donald Trump White House spews lies like a broken fire hydrant, so you’re forgiven for being skeptical of the president and his staff’s insistence that, actually, the economy is totally fine and you don’t need to worry about anything. After all, the new Trump golden age is just around the corner… right?

Well, perhaps it’s more informative to stop listening to what the Trump White House is saying and start watching what they’re actually doing. And what they’re doing appears to be… disaster prep. Eek.

Rolling Stone has spoken to “Trump administration officials” and an aide, who’ve revealed they’re busy stockpiling goods and know many other high-ranking Republicans who’re doing the same. According to them, they’ve seen the writing on the wall and have been making repeated trips to Target to “bulk-buy toilet paper, some types of food, and other household supplies.” In a more alarming twist, they’re also withdrawing large sums of money from the bank and hiding them around their house as “it would be stupid not to!”.

At this point, you’re probably wondering what they know that we don’t. Well, they may have direct access to unfiltered data about America’s economy and know there’s the potential – or even the likelihood – of social chaos coming soon. Trump’s tariffs are already starting to bite and once the already imported supply of goods runs out, consumer prices will skyrocket across the board.

It’s unknown exactly what’ll happen to the economy if every imported item suddenly has a massive tariff on it, but let’s face it, it’s not going to be good! But toilet roll and food stockpiling is one thing, believing you soon won’t be able to withdraw cash from the bank is quite another!

If White House officials have so little confidence in the financial system that they’d rather keep their money in cash hidden in their house than in the bank, that indicates they’re foreseeing apocalyptic levels of anarchy in the coming weeks. Whether you should do the same as them is up to you, but maybe making sure you have enough food and water to survive a few weeks of chaos might not be the worst decision in the world.

There is one silver lining. Don’t forget these people work in the Trump-era White House, so they’re also likely to be very, very stupid. That said, government officials acting like this is deeply worrying – if Trump’s people know for a fact hard times are ahead they must warn the people!
