Meta has rolled out a new key feature for Threads, its one-year-old social networking platform that goes hand in hand with X. The latest functionality allows cross-posting from Facebook and Instagram to Threads. Meta has been testing this feature with a limited number of Threads users for the past few months. Now, the feature was rolled out to the public, reports TechCrunch.
Threads now offers cross-posting from Facebook and Instagram platforms
Meta has confirmed to TechCrunch that cross-posting from Facebook and Threads is now available for Threads. The company has started rolling out the new functionality to all countries where Threads is available. Notably, Meta already played around with cross-posting last year. At the time, it promoted Threads by automatically displaying the platform’s posts on Instagram and Facebook.
The new cross-posting functionality is part of Meta’s bigger plan to maximize content sharing between its suite of social platforms.
The cross-posting feature is available to Threads users on Android and iOS
Threads’ new cross-posting functionality is now available to all users on Android and iOS devices. You can update the app on your device to the latest version to get the new feature. You can opt-in for the cross-posting functionality by toggling the Threads Sharing button while posting something on Instagram and Facebook. Users get the flexibility to either use this option just once or set it up for automatic sharing for all posts.
Notably, the cross-posting feature on Threads will simplify the posting process for content creators, social media managers, and businesses. They won’t need to create a separate post for each platform and can reach their audiences across platforms with the same post. However, the users will still require a bit of editing. For example, a post on Instagram with a handful of hashtags will appear odd on Threads as they will appear as plain text.
That said, Meta continues to add more features to its fast-growing Threads platform from time to time. Recently, the company released a new update that allows you to create multiple drafts and even schedule posts to publish at a later date. Notably, the social networking app hit 200 million monthly users just earlier this month.
