A smartphone with up to 24GB of RAM and up to 240W charging has been announced. The device we’re talking about is called the Realme GT5, and it got announced in China.
This phone has a lot to offer, it’s not all about the RAM and charging. It includes a flat display, with thin bezels. Its side bezels are 1.46mm thick, while the bottom bezel is 2.31mm thick. A display camera hole is centered at the top.
The Realme GT5 has four halo light strips on the back
The phone has three cameras on the back, and a rather large camera section. There are also four halo light strips located next to the cameras, and the halo RGB system offers 26 custom colors, new music rhythm, alarm clock light effects, and more.
The Realme GT5 is made out of metal and glass. The “liquid silver technology” creates a fluid metal texture, and has a linear transition from the bright surface to the matte surface. Realme used a 6-layer optical coating here, and a customized, high-precision hexagram AG texture.
The phone features a 6.74-inch 2772 x 1240 OLED display with a max brightness of 1,450 nits. It also supports 2,160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, by the way.
One variant of this smartphone offers 24GB of RAM and supports 240W charging
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 fuels this smartphone, while 12GB, 16GB, and 24GB LPDDR5X RAM variants of the phone have been announced. They come with 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB of UFS 4.0 flash storage.
Android 13 comes pre-installed on the Realme GT5, with realme UI 4.0 on top of it. Now, two different variants of the phone got released, the ‘GT5+ and ‘GT5 240W’. The only difference between them lies in the battery capacity and charging speed.
The Realme GT5 comes with a 5,240mAh battery, and supports 150W SuperVOOC fast wired charging. The Realme GT5 240W includes a 4,600mAh battery, and supports 240W SuperVOOC fast wired charging.
Three rear-facing cameras are included, as is an IR blaster
A 50-megapixel main camera (Sony’s IMX890 sensor, f/1.8 aperture, OIS) is backed by an 8-megapixel ultrawide unit (120-degree FoV, f/2.2 aperture). A 2-megapixel macro camera (f/2.4 aperture) is also a part of the package. On the front, you’ll notice a 16-megapixel selfie unit.
There is also an in-display fingerprint scanner here, and an IR blaster too. The Realme GT5 comes with stereo speakers, and Dolby Atmos support. It also has two nano SIM card slots, while it supports Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 7.
The phone launched in China, but it could launch in more markets down the line
The Realme GT5 comes with 12GB of RAM + 256GB of storage, and 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage versions, those two are priced at CNY2,999 ($411) and CNY3,299 ($452), respectively. The Realme GT5 240W includes 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, and it is priced at CNY 3,799 ($520).
All variants are available to order in China already. It remains to be seen if Realme will offer this phone in other markets.
