Samsung seems to have an unexpected upgrade in store for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. According to rumors, the 2024 flagship will be available in a 2TB storage variant. This would please power users who tend to keep a lot of things on their phones. The current Ultra tops out at 1TB of storage.

The Korean firm has been selling phones with 1TB of storage for the past few years. It never went beyond that, and no one was bothered. However, it appears there’s scope for phones with even higher storage in the market. Noted tipster @Tech_Reve claims that Samsung is making a Galaxy S24 Ultra with 2TB of onboard storage space.

The tipster doesn’t tell us how much RAM Samsung will offer with this variant. Earlier rumors said the Galaxy S24 Ultra will have 16GB of RAM across the board. The RAM amount will remain unchanged for all storage options. However, @Tech_Reve says the 256GB variant could only have 12GB of RAM. They are “almost certain” about this.

The source added that the Galaxy S24 Ultra may also be available in an 8GB+128GB configuration. If true, this would be a step backward. The Galaxy S23 Ultra starts at 256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM. We hope the latest piece of information is inaccurate. Samsung doesn’t yet make 128GB storage chips based on the UFS 4.0 standard. UFS 3.1 would be too outdated for the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra will bring plenty of other upgrades

More RAM and storage aren’t the only notable upgrades the Galaxy S24 Ultra will bring to the table. As usual, it will get a newer and more powerful processor. Depending on the market, Samsung will ship the phone with an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or the Exynos 2400.

Additionally, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will feature an M13 OLED display instead of M12. This change will bring improved picture quality and power consumption. Rumors have also hinted at a peak brightness of a staggering 2,500 nits. That’s much brighter than the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s display, which tops out at 1,750 nits of brightness.

Samsung is also reportedly switching from a curved display to a flat one next year. The edges are getting flatter too, with the company using titanium instead of aluminum for added strength. We are expecting a 50MP 3x telephoto zoom camera as well. The current model features a 10MP lens. Leaks and rumors about the Galaxy S24 Ultra should come more frequently as the launch draws closer. We will keep you posted accordingly.
