Beyerdynamic has two new pairs of gaming headphones coming, called the MMX 100 and the MMX 150. The audio specialist company officially announced the latest pairs of its gaming peripherals today. Bringing some innovative features at a good price point to those that want a plug and play experience.

That means no wireless audio, but it also means no extra frills or software needed to enjoy the headphones to their fullest. Just plug them in and experience the high quality audio while you play your games. Both new pairs of headphones are hitting the market today for $99 and $129. You can pick them up directly through Beyerdynamic’s online store, or through Amazon and other various retail partners.

The stand out feature of both these new headsets is no doubt the Augmented Mode featured in the Beyerdynamic MMX 150. While it might seem hard to grasp what this does at first, it’s actually something that many users are probably familiar with.

Augmented Mode essentially mixes real world sounds in with the game audio. More simply, it’s like an ambient sound mode that you can find on plenty of other headsets or earbuds. Like the Razer Hammerhead True Wireless V2. Beyerdynamic states that this is so players can enjoy the in-game audio, while also being able to interact with sounds around them in the real world.

Say you have family around and they ask you a question. With Augmented Mode turned on, you can hear them clearly (presumably) and answer back. Or have a full on conversation with someone in the same room who may be watching you play.

Both headsets are wired, but they use different connections. The MMX 100 uses a 3.5mm audio cable. So you should be able to use them with a console as long as they’re plugged into the controller. Although, the device will need separate mic and headphone sockets if you want to use voice chat. Which rules out console compatibility for that particular purpose.

The MMX 150 on the other hand use a USB connection. So you can plug them into any device that has a USB port. Which means PC, as well as the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. And use voice chat at the same time. The mics on both pairs of headphones are also detachable.

Build-wise, the headphones have an aluminum headband for durability. And are wrapped in synthetic leather for added comfort during wear. You’ll also find memory foam ear cushion covered in the same synthetic leather.
