This week Activision put out the reveal trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer, which as one would have it, will be available to play this Friday through the closed beta. The Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer reveal trailer has a lot to show off. More importantly, it gives you an idea of what you can look forward to once the closed beta begins, and once multiplayer goes live after the game officially launches later this year.

One thing that immediately sticks out in the trailer is the return of the tomahawk. If you played the original Call of Duty: Black Ops, you might remember the arrival of a new throwing weapon that hadn’t been seen in the game franchise up to that point. The tomahawk. Unlike the throwing knives, the tomahawk had an arcing path when you threw it. Learning how to use this effectively took some practice, but once you got it down, the enemy takedowns you got with it were so satisfying.

Black Ops 6 is now confirmed to be bringing this weapon back. The tomahawk also appeared in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and the Call of Duty: Black Ops: Declassified game that came out for PS Vita. Aside from what is arguably the best throwing weapon in any Call of Duty multiplayer, the reveal trailer highlights a ton of other stuff.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer reveal trailer shows more of the omnimovement

One of the biggest changes coming to Call of Duty multiplayer is undoubtedly the omnimovement. As it’s likely going to have a big impact on how people play the game. Activision has shown this off before but you get to see more of it in action in this new trailer. The big deal is that you’ll be able to chain together your maneuvers in combat for some truly awesome plays. This includes sprinting and diving in any direction.

You’ll also be able to use omnimovement in the water and dive out of the water to catch enemies unaware more quickly. The biggest part of this new movement mechanic is being able to dive in a direction you aren’t currently looking. So if you’re running forward and an enemy pops up, you can dive to the left or right to avoid incoming fire without having to look in that direction. It should make for some interesting matches.

The trailer also reveals another, potentially more cool mechanic that will excite players.

You can use people as human shields

This has the potential to make for some truly hilarious moments in multiplayer and if you weren’t aware of this mechanic before, the trailer shows it off in wondrous detail. It appears you’ll be able to sneak up behind players on the enemy team and instead of getting that satisfying execution, you can grab the player and use them as a human shield. In doing so, you can still move forward to fire at other players while having some protection from your newfound “friend.”

In addition to this combat mechanic, the trailer shows off lots of other details. Like the famous RC car Killstreak and more. You also get a peek at what diving out of the water looks like. Additionally, Activision confirms 16 all-new maps, the gunsmith, and the return of the classic prestige system. If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, you can watch it below. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launches October 25 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and Battlenet. It’ll also be available through Xbox Game Pass on day one.
