Amazfit has just announced the launch of its latest smartwatch, the T-Rex 3. Designed for those with an adventurous spirit, the T-Rex 3 is Amazfit’s answer to watches like the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra. It’s wrapped in a rugged watch case with features that feel right at home as easily on the mountain trail as they do on city streets.
It’s just as much of an everyday smartwatch with everyday features as it is an outdoor sports watch meant to provide with you useful tools. There’s also the matter of the price, which is well below what you would expect to pay for the Galaxy Watch Ultra. In fact, Amazfit is charging several hundred less. It retails for $279.99 in the US compared to Samsung’s $650. On top of that, the watch is available starting today. One of the best things about the T-Rex 3 for consumers is that it means there are now more options available for rugged smartwatches. Not just more options, mind you, but solid options. The T-Rex 3 is packed with features to assist you on all your journeys. For instance, Amazfit engineered it to deliver a pretty wild amount of battery life. Specifically, up to 27 days with the standard use. Even if you decide to crank up the GPS, it has a maximum battery life of 180 hours. That’s over a full week. So go ahead and stay out on that trek a little longer. The watch can handle it.
The T-Rex 3 even offers offline maps with turn directions so you know where you’re at and where you’re going. Additionally, there are over 170 workout modes. Now part of the reason the watch is able to last so long is because it doesn’t run on Wear OS. It’s lighter weight and more energy efficient. It comes with a large display that’s a lot brighter
Amazfit has increased the size of the display compared to the T-Rex 2. The company says it’s now 16% larger than the previous model of the watch. The more noticeable improvement is with the screen brightness. It’s now 100% brighter, with a peak brightness of 2,000 nits. In short, you shouldn’t have any trouble seeing it in direct sunlight.
It offers a Night Display as well. If you enable this then all the graphics on-screen turn to a bright red, green, or orange color. In terms of durability, it’s a stainless steel bezel with a polymer middle frame. The display, meanwhile, is protected by Gorilla Glass.
