Green made her directional debut with The Assistant in 2019, a movie that had the Ozark star as the lead. In that film, Garner plays Jane, a woman that gets her dream job as the personal assistant of a powerful entertainment mogul. Following similar beats, The Royal Hotel will also find Garner’s character doing something she has always wanted, with the story taking a dark turn once again.

Julia Garner’s Road to Becoming One of Hollywood’s Newest Obsessions

Julia Garner in Ozark
Netflix

Despite being only 29 years old, Garner has already had a long and varied career since she started acting in 2011. Collecting major and acclaimed titles such as The Americans, Girls or The Get Down, she has always managed to stand out, mainly on television. For this reason, her big step towards becoming a world-renowned star came thanks to Netflix and the hit drama Ozark, with a large part of the audience recognizing her performance as the best in the series.

Thanks to the success of the show, Garner landed a much more relevant part in another original production from the streaming platform, Inventing Anna. Although the series did not enjoy the same solid reception as Ozark did, the actress once again proved her versatility and great acting skills.

Soon, Garner will star in Natalie Erika James’ upcoming horror film, Apartment 7, which will reportedly serve as a prequel to the 1968 classic, Rosemary’s Baby. The film will also star Dianne Wiest, Jim Sturgess, Marli Siu, Kevin McNally, and Rosy McEwen. The story centers on a young dancer who rents a room from an old married couple.

As for her co-star in The Royal Hotel, Jessica Henwick, things have also been working out pretty well over the last couple of years. The actress has been part of some major franchises like Star Wars, The Defenders, Game of Thrones, The Matrix, Blade Runner and more recently Knives Out, featuring as part of the ensemble cast in the sequel released by Netflix last year.
