For the Christmas horror fans, you’re going to want to see this one. Terror Films has released the official trailer for The Christmas Tapes, a new holiday horror flick starring Greg Sestero (The Room), Dave Sheridan (The Devil’s Rejects), and Vernon Wells (The Road Warrior). A horror anthology film, it’s a “yuletide frightfest like no other,” and you can get your sneak peek at The Christmas Tapes by watching the trailer below.
The film comes from Robert Livings and Randy Nundlall Jr., set on a family’s movie night on Christmas Eve that suddenly gets interrupted by stranger insistent on making the next Christmas “classic” film himself.
“The Christmas Tapes is a throwback to the anthology films of the 80s and 90s, but with a modern found-footage twist,” the directors said of the movie. “Christmas Horror is a subgenre that we feel deserves more attention, and this film came about from us discussing the classics and how we could possibly bring something new to the table. From day one, we were aware that this film had to be fun and could not take itself too seriously.”
They further teased, “Developing each segment and the trajectory of how they would transition from traditional horror to comedy-horror was an exciting journey. We look forward to you discovering this box of Christmas tapes.”
The Christmas Tapes Unites Horror Genre Stars
Of course, Sestero is very well known for his role in The Room by Tommy Wiseau. He wrote about his experience working on the cult favorite with the book The Disaster Artist, which was later adapted into a feature film with James Franco as Wiseau and Dave Franco as Sestero. Sestero has also been seen in the horror genre with a recent role in the Netflix series The Haunting of Bly Manor. His other genre work includes Retro Puppet Master, The Pit and the Pendulum, Dude Bro Party Massacre III, and the upcoming killer shark movie Big Shark alongside Wiseau.
Sheridan is known to horror fans for playing Doofy, a parody of David Arquette’s Scream character, in Scary Movie. He also had a notable role in the Rob Zombie film The Devil’s Rejects and played a Rick Grimes parody character in the spoof movie The Walking Deceased. More recently, he could be seen in Sky Sharks, The Resort, and Bloody Summer Camp.
Wells’ breakout role came in Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, though the veteran actor has appeared in dozens of roles in the years since. He’s no stranger to holiday horror, having appeared in Silent Night, Zombie Night. More recently, he has also appeared in horror films like Death House, Kill Giggles, and Red Snow.
The Christmas Tapes will be released worldwide on Digital by Terror Films on Dec. 12, 2022.
