The Pixel 9 got an official teardown
YouTube channel PBKreviews did a great and in-depth teardown video of the base Pixel 9. The teardown process was nothing really special. The Pixel 9 is a well-built and premium phone.
It has the typical features of an IP-certified phone like the powerful adhesive. One thing that the person in the video mentioned is that, even with the pull tabs and alcohol, the battery was pretty tough to remove. That’s something that you’ll need to know if you’re planning on replacing the battery one day.
Another key part of the design is the fact that you can remove the phone’s screen by simply heating up the adhesive on the front of the phone, disconnecting the screen’s cables, and removing it. You don’t have to go through the back of the phone to do it.
The rest of the teardown went on without a hitch, and they were able to give it a repairability score. The phone scored an 8.5/10 for repairability which is a pretty good score. It scored the highest for screen replacement and parts availability. When it comes to the organization of the parts within the phone, battery replacement, and how easy it is to replace parts, they had to knock off a few points, but it’s not too bad.
If you wind up with a bloated battery or busted screen on your Pixel 9, fixing it up won’t be too bad of a process.
