The Killing Tree is for Fans of Krampus

The Killing Tree was originally shot under the name Demonic Christmas Tree, and with a name like that, it’s clear from the start that the filmmakers had an incredibly interesting idea. Rhys Frake-Waterfield, who directed the film, is also behind the anticipated movie Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, which reimagines the friendly bear as a murderous monster. That film will now be heading to theaters after generating enough interest online with its bizarre premise. Frake-Waterfield is also planning to do another film with a similar that idea that puts a horror movie spin on Peter Pan.

But for now, The Killing Tree can be seen from the indie filmmaker. Teasing The Killing Tree, Uncork’d Entertainment President Keith Leopard said, “A super fun horror tale, with some great scares and devilish humor, The Killing Tree is undoubtedly going to be very popular with audiences. If you loved Krampus, you’ll want to put it on your must-see list.”

Krampus was a holiday-themed horror comedy film released in 2015. Starring Toni Collette and Adam Scott, the film follows the mythical Christmas creature Krampus tormenting a neighborhood when he’s resurrected during the holiday season. There have been many holiday horror movies to be released over the years, though Krampus still remains one of the most popular to arrive in recent memory.
