Undoubtedly, Apple Intelligence is one of the most exciting things about the iPhone 16 and iOS 18. The company showed off some incredible AI features during WWDC earlier this year, and they’re sure to give Galaxy AI a run for its money. Well, according to a new report, Apple Intelligence has been delayed. So, iPhone 16 buyers won’t have these features out of the box.

In case you don’t know, Apple Intelligence is Apple’s own take on generative AI. Rather than focusing on creating a powerful integrated AI platform, the company opted to boost the iPhone experience. This uses Apple’s own models, and it allows Siri to perform several tasks throughout the system.

This will also come with some generative AI features like image generation, photo editing, etc. You can check out that segment of the WWDC presentation to learn more.

Apple Intelligence has been delayed

This is something that we didn’t want to hear, but it’s a good thing in a twisted sort of way. Bloomberg reported on Sunday that Apple Intelligence won’t be dropping in September like we all expected. The company is planning a major iOS release during that month along with the iPhone 16 series.

As per the report, Apple Intelligence won’t land until sometime in October. That’s unfortunate, but it’s not too long to wait. Users shouldn’t have the iPhone 16 in hand for long before it officially launches.

So, what is Apple doing while you’re waiting for the update? Why, it’s testing it out. According to the report, Apple is going to release Apple Intelligence in an early state to developers for testing. This will be through iOS 18.1 and the iOS 18 beta.

Why is it a good thing that Apple delayed Apple Intelligence?

Well, just look at Google. The company has released several AI products in an unfinished state, and that’s led to some pretty bad incidents. It seems that the company has a bad habit of rushing products to the market to stay ahead of the game.

So, it’s good that Apple is taking the extra time to make sure that its AI tools are “Apple Perfect” before releasing them to the masses. We’re sure that people would prefer waiting a few extra weeks if it means that their AI works as intended.
