Happy birthday, Benedict Cumberbatch! The Doctor Strange star turns 45 today, and his countless fans out there are flooding social media today to wish the Oscar-nominated actor a great day. The British thespian was launched into global fame thanks to the BBC’s Sherlock TV series in 2010 and since then he’s gone on to become one of Hollywood’s busiest leading men, featuring in the likes of The Imitation Game, Star Trek into Darkness and The Hobbit trilogy.
Of course, MCU lovers know him most as Stephen Strange, with Cumberbatch having appeared four times in the role so far since his made his debut in 2016, with at least another couple on the way over the next 12 months. Here’s just a flavor of all the love going around for the actor on Twitter this July 19th.

Cumberbatch will return to the MCU in this December’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, in which he’ll serve as the latest superhero mentor to Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. Four months later he’ll lead his own sequel in March 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, opposite Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch. He was supposed to have cameod in WandaVision, but this idea was ultimately ditched.
Cumberbatch is also set to star in Netflix drama film The Power of the Dog, streaming sometime this year, and biopic The Electrical Life of Louis Wain as the titular eccentric artist. In his personal life, he has been married to actress and theater director Sophie Hunter since 2015 and the couple have three sons, Christopher, Hal and Finn.
