Mild Spoiler Warning: A cameo appearance in The Flash is spoiled in the below storyThe Korean trailer for The Flash has made its way online, and with it comes some new footage not seen in other trailers. That includes the special appearance of a fellow member of the Justice League, though we don’t exactly get a clear look at the superhero. The moment happens very early into the trailer when Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) gets a call from Ben Affleck’s Batman, setting the scene in the DCEU, aka the Snyderverse. At the same time, a television screen reveals that Superman is on the scene where a volcano has erupted in Guatemala, and a snippet of footage shows the Man of Steel using his laser vision in an effort to help. As this would be the Superman known to Miller’s Flash and Affleck’s Batman, this must be Henry Cavill’s Superman, making a cameo appearance in the movie after all. Given that we don’t see a clear shot of his face, however, it’s not exactly a cameo from Cavill himself, but more so one from his version of Superman. That’s not dissimilar to the cameo the character had in the first Shazam! film, which showed the Man of Steel, but from the neck down without Cavill reprising the role.

There have been rumors that an actual cameo featuring Cavill as Superman was filmed for the movie but may not have made the final cut. It has also been reported that at least one other variant of Superman will appear in the movie, with one major actor said to don the suit for a surprise cameo. Officially, no Superman actors have been announced by Warner Bros. or the filmmakers to appear in The Flash, though Man of Steel actor Michael Shannon has been featured in various promos in his reprised role as Zod. Sashe Calle is essentially filling the void of Superman’s absence with her role as Supergirl, teaming up with The Flash and Michael Keaton’s Batman to take on a common threat and save the multiverse.

Possibly, there will be more of the Snyderverse Superman in The Flash not shown in the above trailer, or it’s just as likely that the cameo will be limited to that television screen appearance. Meanwhile, Superman is still set to have a big presence in the DCU moving forward, but with a new actor in the role. After James Gunn and Peter Safran came in to steer the ship at DC Studios, they announced plans to reboot the Man of Steel with the upcoming film Superman: Legacy. Casting is currently underway, and though some different names are rumored to have auditioned, no one has yet been officially announced as the new Clark Kent.

The Flash will be premiering in movie theaters on June 16, 2023. You can watch another trailer for the movie below, via Warner Bros. Pictures.
