Broadway demands its sacrifices.

Nicole Scherzinger, the former Pussycat Dolls singer, has revealed that her wedding plans are currently on hold as she focuses on her Broadway career. The 46-year-old star, who got engaged to former Scottish rugby player Thom Evans in 2023, is prioritizing her role in Sunset Blvd., which recently earned her a Tony Award.

According to People, in a recent interview with HELLO! magazine, Scherzinger explained that her Broadway commitments have taken precedence over wedding preparations. The demanding nature of theater performances has left little room for anything else in her schedule, including her popular judging role on The Masked Singer, including planning her nuptials with Evans.

“Oh, there’s no wedding planning, honey,” Scherzinger told the magazine. “When you do Broadway, it’s only Broadway. You eat, sleep, you don’t sleep much, and breathe Broadway – a far cry from her years as a beloved TV judge on hit singing competitions.” She added, “Thank God I have a very understanding and wonderful, and the most supportive fiancé.”

The love story began on The X Factor: Celebrity

The couple’s relationship started in 2019 when they met on the set of The X Factor: Celebrity, where Scherzinger served as a judge. Evans was competing on the show as part of a singing trio called Try Star, alongside fellow UK rugby players Levi Davis and Ben Foden.

Their romance remained private initially, with the couple making their first public appearance together at a Golden Globe Awards afterparty in January 2020. Evans later expressed his appreciation for meeting Scherzinger naturally rather than through social media, telling The Sun in 2021 that their connection was “awesome” from the beginning.

The engagement announcement came in June 2023 when both parties shared the news on Instagram. Scherzinger posted “I said yes,” while Evans described the beach proposal as “one of the best days of his life.” In a 2024 interview with Men’s Health magazine, Evans expressed his excitement about their future together, stating that getting married and starting a family with Scherzinger is “something I can’t wait for.”

The postponement of their wedding plans coincides with Scherzinger’s breakthrough success on Broadway. Her performance in Sunset Blvd. has garnered significant recognition, culminating in her winning the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical. This achievement marks a significant milestone in her career transition from pop music to theater, demonstrating why her current focus remains on her Broadway commitments rather than wedding preparations.
