T-Mobile is expanding its 5G Home Internet to more locations across the US. The company Thursday announced that the home broadband service is now available in 81 additional cities and towns across five states: Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. With this expansion, the service now covers five million more households in the country, taking the total to well over 40 million, a third of which are in rural areas.
Launched in April 2021, T-Mobile’s 5G Home Internet has been the fastest-growing broadband provider in the US over the past year. The company has expanded its coverage to millions more households since its launch. It also raked in one million subscribers within a year.
The ease of installation and setup, and T-Mobile’s “Price Lock” strategy make its broadband service appealing to customers. Once you sign up, the company will ship a gateway device to your doorstep. Simply plug it in and download the app to get started, You will be up and running in less than 15 minutes. No drilling, no installation, nothing. Should you need help, you can always call or message T-Mobile’s experts.
As for the monthly cost, T-Mobile’s 5G Home Internet is flat at $50 per month with Autopay ($55 without Autopay). The company doesn’t charge anything over that. No added taxes or fees, no equipment costs, and no annual contracts. On top of that, the company also promises to not increase the price for as long as you remain a customer.
Additionally, 5G Home Internet is available for just $30 a month to families with the Magenta MAX phone plan. You also get 50 percent off YouTube TV for one year. T-Mobile makes it easier for existing broadband users to switch as well. Its Internet Freedom strategy offers a 15-day free trial of the service. Should someone decide to switch after the trial period, the company will cover termination fees up to $500 so they can break their contract with the current provider.
T-Mobile 5G Home Internet covers more US households with home broadband
T-Mobile says it is bringing 5G Home Internet to areas where no other providers offer their broadband service. More than 1.1 million households covered with the latest expansion did not have any access to home broadband. About 40 percent of Central Iowa homes do not have access to high-speed broadband, while one out of every four students in Oklahoma also can’t access high-speed internet at home. The story is somewhat similar in the urban core of Kansas City, Missouri as well.
“Access to fast, reliable home broadband is no longer a luxury. But for too many communities, access to reliable home broadband is still incredibly limited,” T-Mobile said in a press release. “It’s 2022. This is unacceptable.”
