Horizon Forbidden West is fast approaching its release on PC after being exclusive to PS5 since its initial launch, and today the required system specs were revealed so you know just how beefy your PC will need to be if you want to play this game.

It’s worth keeping in mind that like its predecessor, Horizon Forbidden West on PC will have a bunch of graphical options the PlayStation version didn’t offer. Like ultra-widescreen support, NVIDIA DLSS enhancements, and more. The game is releasing for PC users via Steam on March 21, so the launch is just a couple of weeks away. This will be the Complete Edition of the game that comes with the Burning Shores expansion, and it’ll retail for $59.99.

Sony has announced the official specs in a blog post on the Official PlayStation Blog. Unsurprisingly, you’ll need some hefty hardware if you want to run the game with 4K visuals at 60 frames per second. Luckily, NVIDIA has also announced that PC players with a GeForce RTX 40-series GPU will be able to turn on DLSS 3 on day one. This will help boost the frame rate if the game is running slower than you’d like. Additionally, NVIDIA says that DLAA is an option too. You’ll want to enable this for a graphical boost if your frames are already fast enough without DLSS 3 on.

Horizon Forbidden West PC specs require 16GB of RAM at minimum

It’s not uncommon for newer games like this one to have some pretty demanding specs requirements. That said, it should be noted that there may be some variance you can live with. As an example, across the board, Horizon Forbidden West requires 16GB of RAM. This is regardless of the preset graphics setting. Whether you have things set to very low, medium, high, or very high. However, that doesn’t mean the game won’t run with less than 16GB of RAM.

There is a chance it will boot up just fine without crashing. But it might not run smoothly or look as good as you hope. For the most part though, 16GB of RAM isn’t a very high demand. That much RAM is easily affordable these days too. So if you don’t meet this requirement, it might not be that expensive to upgrade to it. If you want to crank things up to the highest preset possible, you’ll need a GeForce RTX 4080 GPU or the AMD equivalent, the Radeon RX 7900XT. It’ll also require at least an Intel Core i7-11700 or an AMD Ryzen 7 5700X CPU.

In addition to listing the specs, Sony is also revealing some of the graphics options that players will be able to adjust in the settings. Things like Radial Blur, bloom, and lens flares can be tuned to suit your preferences. You can also adjust the field of view as well as the motion blur and film grain. There are a bunch of individual quality settings as well. Including textures, water, terrain, and level of detail. You can view the full specs requirements for the PC port below.
