Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws was unveiled yesterday at the Xbox Showcase, promising a breakneck adventure through the galaxy in the period between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Lead character Kay seems like a classic Star Wars scoundrel type, perpetually on the run from the Empire and various bounty hunters while searching for the one big score that’ll wipe the slate clean.

But one particularly interesting wrinkle is a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance from Star Wars‘ most iconic smuggler, Han Solo. Unfortunately for Han, this is a low point in his life as he’s been frozen in carbonite and has an exciting future ahead of him as a wall hanging in Jabba’s Palace.

If Outlaws wraps up before Return of the Jedi begins, then he’s going to spend the entire game encased in carbonite, though fans are just happy to see him onscreen once more:

We expect carbonite Han to at least be a part of the story:

And an appearance from Boba Fett seems more likely than not:

Well, maybe he could topple over and crush enemies?

Han’s time in carbonite has also been shown in the comics, so maybe this will cross over with them?

And if Han is out for the count, why not an appearance from Lando?

We’re excited for Outlaws, but the lack of any gameplay in the trailer means we still don’t know how the game will play or look when it lands next year. That said, given that this is coming from The Division development team Ubisoft Massive, we can be confident that it’s going to have solid gunplay and impeccable environmental design.

Let’s just look forward to the first time we actually see Star Wars Outlaws gameplay, which is hopefully sooner rather than later.
