The Sony Xperia 1 VII was announced today. This is the company’s new flagship smartphone, and we’ve already covered its launch. It’s time to take a closer look at the Sony Xperia 1 VII specs, though.
The Sony Xperia 1 VII packs in Qualcomm’s most powerful SoC
The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor from Qualcomm. It is a 3nm chip, and the most powerful one Qualcomm has to offer. This chip is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 flash storage. That storage is expandable, by the way, up to 2TB via a microSD card.
There is a 6.5-inch fullHD+ (2340 x 1080) OLED HDR display included here. It has a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz). You’ll also be getting a 240Hz Motion blur reduction here, along with a 240Hz Touch scanning rate. It also offers a 10-bit tonal gradation, and it’s protected by the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 from Corning.
Android 15 comes pre-installed, and Sony made some upgrade promises
Android 15 comes pre-installed on the Xperia 1 VII. Sony promised 4 OS upgrades and 6 years’ worth of security upgrades for the device.
This phone also includes a dual SIM setup (nano + eSIM). A side-facing fingerprint scanner is included, while the phone is IP65 and IP68 rated for water and dust resistance. Bluetooth 5.4 is on offer, as is Wi-Fi 7.
It has full-stage stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. 360 Reality Audio, 360 Reality Audio hardware, and 360 Spatial Sound are all supported here. The phone also comes with an audio jack up top.
30W wired charging is supported, while three compelling cameras sit on the back
A 5,000mAh battery is included on the inside. The phone supports 30W wired charging (USB PD), along with Qi wireless charging, and the Battery Share function. A charger is not included in the box, however.
There are three cameras included on the back. A 48-megapixel main unit (wide- Exmor T sensor for mobile, 1/1.35-inch sensor, f/1.9 aperture, hybrid OIS/EIS) is backed by a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera (f/2.0 aperture, 1/1.56-inch sensor size, 104-degree FoV). The third camera on the back is a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto unit (f/2.3 to f/3.5 aperture, Exmor RS for mobile, 3.5 to 7.1x optical zoom, 21.3x hybrid zoom).
On the front side of the phone, you’ll find a 12-megapixel selfie camera (1/2.9-inch sensor size, Exmor RS mobile sensor, f/2.0 aperture, 84-degree FoV).
You can choose between three different colors
The Sony Xperia 1 VII comes in Moss Green, Orchid Purple, and Slate Black colors. It measures 162 x 74 x 8.2mm, while it weighs 192 grams.
