Sony, which was once ruling the smartphone market with its camera-centric devices, has now been butchered by giants like Samsung, and new and upcoming giants such as Xiaomi, and OnePlus.
While Sony continues to produce smartphones, they are oddly priced and haven’t been able to click with the masses, at least as of now. The market in the US for Sony is pretty mild, but there is a piece of good news for all the Sony-fanatics out in the US.
Sony has finally started shipping its Xperia 5 III in the US. The price of the Sony Xperia 5 III starts from $999. To recall, the company announced the phone, back in April last year.
This leaves us with last year’s specs inside the device. The Sony Xperia 5 III is powered by 2021’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, which by no means is a bad processor at all. It is just that the SoC isn’t the latest one the customers will be getting.
It comes with 5G support, which is nice. In the display department, it comes with a 6.1-inch Sony-esque 21:9 aspect ratio display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The Sony Xperia 5 III buyers in the USA will get some perks through late February
Sony Xperia 5 III packs a triple 12MP camera setup. Under the hood, the phone is powered by a 4,500 mAh battery, which supports 30W fast charging and can charge up to 50% in about 30 minutes.
Other features include stereo speakers, Bluetooth 5.2, and a single 8MP selfie camera capable of recording videos @1080p. It comes with a shared SIM slot, which 128GB/256GB onboard storage options.
According to the press release, Sony reveals that the company has just now managed to start delivering the Xperia 5 III in the USA. The cost of the phone starts from $999, but if you are interested in buying the device, you will get some perks through late February.
These perks include the $199 WF-1000XM3 earbuds and 43,200 points in Call of Duty: Mobile. So, if you are a fan of the top-quality audio earbuds, then it is a nice option to buy an Xperia 5 III.
Besides, if you are a Call of Duty: Mobile fan, then also there are some extra points for you on the purchase of the device. More importantly, Sony says that Xperia 5 III in the US will come with Android 11 out of the box.
This is sad because smartphone OEMs have already delivered or are in process of delivering the latest Android 12 update to their devices. However, there is hope that the device will get ready to receive Android 12 in the near future, as the update is already live for Xperia 5 III and Xperia 1 III in some regions.
If you are interested, then you can grab your Xperia 5 III from B&H Photo or from Sony’s website.
