Some Galaxy Phones Are Having An Issue With Their Refresh Rate

Just days after people reported an issue with the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s display, we have other Galaxy phones with display issues popping up. Users are reporting issues with their Galaxy S21 FE’s refresh rate. A bunch of people are sounding off about this on support forums.

Galaxy phone owners are having issues with their refresh rate

No company is immune to display issues; not even Samsung. The company has been producing the best AMOLED displays on the market for years, and that doesn’t seem to be changing anytime soon. However, people on the Samsung support forum are talking about some weird issues they’re having with their phones.

Newer Galaxy phones have different refresh rates; either 60Hz, 90Hz, 120Hz, or some combination of the three. For some reason, people are seeing the refresh rate drop far below 60Hz. This makes for a super laggy and jittery experience. It makes the animations in the interface appear to be broken.

So far, there doesn’t seem to be a workaround to fix this issue. A user on the forum said that they restarted their phone, but the issue would come back eventually. This case was with a Galaxy S21 FE. In that same thread, other people reported about their experiences with this issue.

There seem to be several phones affected by this

Reading the comments, we see a few other Galaxy phones affected by this weird refresh rate issue. One posted that this happened on their Galaxy S21 Ultra and another one experienced it on their Galaxy A72. This means that it’s probably a software issue affecting all of those phones. There are probably other phones that are going through this.

This could be an issue with One UI 4

One UI 4 is still relatively new, so it could possibly be the culprit behind these issues. New software is often bound to have some bugs, and this is especially true for major platform updates. Fortunately, these issues are minor and they don’t seem to really drag down the experience.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra has a different issue. Users reported a weird pixelated line that goes along the screen, horizontally. This is different from the aforementioned issue because it has something to do with the color mode rather than the refresh rate. Samsung hasn’t responded to these issues just yet, but it should eventually. When it does, a quick update should fix the issue.
