Tons of rumors surface on a daily basis, and sometimes it’s easy to differentiate proper ones from fake ones. Other times, not so much. The latest rumor comes from Yogesh Brar, who is not exactly one of the most prominent tipsters out there. He claims that the Pixel 7a will be the last ‘a series’ phone from Google.
The Pixel 7a may be the last ‘a series’ phone from Google, if this rumor pans out
He went to Twitter and said this by adding that “it is certain that there won’t be any 8a coming”. He also said that the reason for this is the spec and price bump of the Pixel 7a. It is true that the Pixel 7a and Pixel 7 are rather close in terms of pricing now, and the lines are getting a bit blurred.
In any case, the tipster added that “Google will likely stick with vanilla and Pro models alongside a foldable going forward”. He also added that “something similar might happen with Samsung”.
There’s a lot to unpack here. So first he said that “it is certain there won’t be any 8a coming”, and then he said that “Google will likely stick with vanilla and Pro models alongside a foldable”. Those two sentences are kind of contradictory. So, he probably doesn’t know anything for sure at this point.
He also claims Samsung will do something similar
Moving along, it’s unlikely to expect that Samsung will do something similar, as the tipster claims. Samsung has a ton of different phones out there, and its A series smartphones are actually selling really well. Some of its most successful phones are from that smartphone series. So, we’re not really seeing Samsung scraping it anytime soon.
In case you were wondering about the Pixel 7a price, it is rumored to cost $499. That is $50 more than the Pixel 6a. The Pixel 7, on the other hand, starts at $599. So, you can see where the lines may be getting blurred a bit. The phone will launch on May 10, so stay tuned for that.
