Last month, Samsung introduced its latest foldable smartphones called the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. Soon after, the company announced an exclusive Olympic Edition of the clamshell-style foldable offering. The brand handed out as many as 17,000 units of the special edition to the athletes. Now, as the 2024 Olympics events are coming to an end, many Galaxy Z Flip 6 Olympic Edition units are up for sale on eBay.
Galaxy Z Flip 6 Olympic Edition units on eBay have bids over $2,000
A quick search on eBay will reveal that many of the Z Flip 6 Olympic Edition units were never opened. Several of these devices have received bids of more than $2,000. It is way too higher than the standard Galaxy Z Flip 6, which is available at the starting price of $1,099. Notably, some of these special Olympic Edition units have a “Buy It Now” price tag of a whopping $5,000 to $10,000.
As Samsung handed out 17,000 Z Flip 6 Olympic Editions, it’s unsurprising that some of them made their way to eBay. Most of the listings of the device on eBay are priced at $1,500 or more. One of these auctions was priced at $940, but with many days left in bidding, the final price will go considerably higher.
What do you get with the Olympic Edition of Samsung’s foldable phone?
As you may probably know the Galaxy Z Flip 6 Olympic Edition isn’t up for sale to the general population. So, if you still want to have one of these special units, you’ll have to find some other ways. If you want it, you can bid on one of the listings on eBay. With the special edition, the users get a unique yellow colorway and an exclusive leather Flipsuit case.
The Olympic Edition also comes bundled with a complimentary eSIM with 100GB of 5G data. There also are some Olympic-related applications on the device. Samsung also includes an unlimited public transport card with the device. However, it will only be useful if you are living in Paris.
Since the 2024 Olympics are coming to an end, we don’t think the free transport card will be any useful. That said, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is an expensive souvenir for this year’s Olympic games if you get it through the eBay route.
