Samsung has been pushing the One UI 6.1.1 update aggressively to the older Galaxy phones lately. To our surprise, the latest One UI update for the Galaxy S23 series didn’t bring the September 2024 security patch. However, Samsung has been making sure that the September 2024 patch reaches the model updated with the One UI 6.1.1. The company is ensuring the same by rolling out a separate software update for the Galaxy S23 series.
Samsung Galaxy S23 series gets the September 2024 security update in the US
Initially, the separate update for the Galaxy S23 series that carried the September 2024 security patch was live in India and Europe. But, it seems Samsung is expanding its availability. Today, SamMobile reported that the Galaxy S23 series phones in the US have started getting the September 2024 security update.
The latest update is live for the carrier-locked and factory-unlocked models of the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. Let’s not forget that the new software update for the carrier-locked models comes with firmware version S91xUSQS4CXHC. Whereas, the update for factory-unlocked units carries firmware version S91xU1UES4CXHC. Unfortunately, there’s no such update for Galaxy S23 FE yet.
The security update fixes 67 security loopholes
The latest security update for the Galaxy S23 series fixes 67 known security vulnerabilities present in the previous software version. The latest update for the Galaxy S23 series doesn’t bring any new features or performance improvements.
All that said, if you live in the US and have Galaxy S23 series phones, we recommend checking for the update right now by going to Settings > Software Update. Now, your device will start scanning for new updates. If you find any new updates for your Galaxy S23 series phone then make sure to tap Download and install. On the other hand, if there’s no update available for you’re Android device, we recommend waiting a few days.
