Segway is a company that many of you might be familiar with for creating personal transportation devices. But the company has another division specializing in robotic lawn mowers. At CES 2025, Segway Navimow has announced the latest addition to its lineup in the X3 series.
Large lawns? No problem!
According to Segway Navimow, the X3 series has been designed for large lawns up to 2.5 acres. The company claims that the X3 series is capable of covering up to 5,000m² of lawn space within 24 hours. This is thanks to the wider cutting width and faster mowing speeds of the X3. This can help increase the frequency of mowing, which can contribute to healthier and more manicured-looking lawns.
The concept of robot lawn mowers aren’t new. Over the years, we’ve seen quite a number of them pop up. It makes sense, if there are robot vacuums, why wouldn’t there be robot lawn mowers, right? In fact, at CES 2025 this year, there are already a number of smart lawn mowing systems.
No perimeter wires
That being said, unlike more traditional robot lawn mowers, the Segway Navimow X3 does not require perimeter wires. These wires are normally used to help the robot identify its working area. But with the X3 series, it uses the company’s EFLS 3.0 navigation with RTK coverage, vSLAM, and VIO technologies.
This ensures precision even in challenging terrains and where signal coverage might not be the best. By utilizing this system, it allows the X3 series to navigate more complex zones, such as tree-covered areas and narrow paths. Speaking of challenging terrain, Segway Navimow says the X3 series can climb slopes of up to 27 degrees effortlessly. So if you happen to have a very hilly lawn, the X3 should have no problems taking it on.
Other note-worthy features
Other features of the X3 series include an upgraded 300-degree wide-angle camera and AI-enhanced algorithms for VisionFence technology. This widens the robot’s field of view for better route planning and obstacle avoidance. It can also help with the robot’s AI algorithm when it comes to detecting animals in its way.
This will help with potential accidents that could harm wildlife during the robot’s operations. Segway Navimow has also designed the X3 series with anti-theft features. This includes a sound alarm, an accompanying app that offers GPS tracking, and a compartment where users can slot in an AirTag for extra protection.
Last but not least, the X3 series offers smart home integration. It plays nicely with smart home platforms and digital assistants like Amazon’s Alexa and Google Home.
