Robert De Niro is a small town Sheriff in the official trailer for Savage Salvation. The film sees his character, Sheriff Church, as he tries to stop a vigilante hellbent on revenge. Jack Huston plays Shelby John in the movie, a recovering opioid addict who wants to get clean with his fiancé, Ruby Red (Willa Fitzgerald). After Ruby tragically passes away, Shelby tracks down the drug dealers responsible for selling the product while De Niro is hot on his trail.
The film comes from Randall Emmett, a frequent collaborator with De Niro. He served as a producer on several projects of his, including The Irishman, The War With Grandpa, and Heist to name a few. However, Savage Salvation will only be his second directorial outing after his 2021 project, Midnight in the Switchgrass starring Emile Hirsch, Megan Fox, and Bruce Willis. The official synopsis for Savage Salvation reads:
“Sheriff Church (Robert De Niro) and Detective Zeppelin strive to keep the peace in their rough town, where residents’ only two interests are the church or oxycodone. Newly engaged Shelby John (Jack Huston) and Ruby Red want a fresh start. They decide to have a family together and get clean, with the support of Peter, Ruby’s brother-in-law (John Malkovich). However, Shelby discovers his beloved Ruby dead on their porch before she could fulfill her final wish: to be baptized in the river and washed away from her past sins. Filled with fiery rage, Shelby embarks on a vengeful killing spree to right all the wrong done to Ruby by every link in the drug dealing chain. Armed with nothing but adrenaline and a nail gun, Shelby picks off dealers and junkies one by one until he gets to the top. Sheriff Church and Detective Zeppelin must race against the clock to put an end to Shelby’s vigilante justice before his fight with the crime lord Coyote (Quavo) turns the entire town into a bloodbath.”
Savage Salvation Arrives in Theaters & On Digital This December
Fans don’t need to wait long for Savage Salvation, as the film is ready to hit theaters and release on digital. In addition to De Niro, Fitzgerald, and Huston, the movie stars John Malkovich, Dale Dickey, Winter Ave Zoli, Lindsay Pulsipher, Swen Temmel, Katalina Viteri, and Quavo as the film’s antagonist, Coyote.
Chris Sivertson helped write the script, with previous experience in various television shows and movies. His credits include I Know Who Killed Me, Brawler, The Lost, and Heatwave. This will be the first feature film for Quavo, known for his time in the rap group Migos. He has worked in Hollywood before, appearing on an episode of Black-ish and Atlanta alongside Donald Glover and LaKeith Stanfield. Fans can see Quavo, Robert De Niro, Jack Huston, John Malkovich, and more when Savage Salvation premieres on Dec. 2.
