We’ve been going back and forth when it comes to the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s processor for a while now. Report after report, we’ve been hearing either Exynos 2500 or Snapdragon 8 Elite… on and on. Well, according to the latest report, Samsung will go with the Exynos 2500 for the Galaxy Z Flip 7, in what seems to be a last-minute switch.
Samsung seemingly opts for a different processor for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 in a last-minute switch
This report comes from Korea, and claims that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will use a different SoC than the Galaxy Z Fold 7. It also mentions that the mass production of the device will begin next month.
You may remember that, a couple of days ago, a report suggested that the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy will fuel the phone. As I said, we’ve been going back and forth with these reports. For what it’s worth, this one is more credible than the one from the other day. Still, this is not a confirmation of any sort.
Using the Exynos 2500 was Samsung’s original plan, but the company had to make changes due to yield issues. Samsung was allegedly planning to use the Exynos 2500 for the Galaxy S25 series too.
The Exynos 2500 yield rate should be enough for the Galaxy Z Flip 7
What’s worth noting here is that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 prototypes were tested using a Snapdragon chipset, so… we’re not sure if this report from Korea is accurate. The Exynos 2500’s estimated yield rate is 20-40%, which should be enough for the Galaxy Z Flip 7. That phone will sell in considerably lower numbers compared to the Galaxy S25 series, of course.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected to arrive in early July, during an event in New York. It will launch alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The event hasn’t been confirmed just yet, so nothing is set in stone just yet.
