Samsung has released the November 2022 Android security patch for a few more Galaxy devices. The Galaxy S10 5G, Galaxy A40, and Galaxy Tab S7 FE are all picking up the latest security update today. The November SMR (Security Maintenance Release) has already rolled out to Dozens of Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
The Galaxy S10 5G is currently receiving the November security update in Europe. The new firmware version for the world’s 5G smartphone is G977BXXUDHVK1 (via). Samsung should expand the release to more markets in the coming days. However, since the phone no longer receives monthly security patches, it may skip the November SMR in some regions. The device isn’t a priority for the Korean brand anymore, at least in terms of security updates.
The same is true for the Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, and Galaxy S10+ as well. These three models are also on the quarterly updates schedule. So it’s hard to tell if they will get the November SMR. And even if they get the latest security patch in some markets, they may not get it everywhere. Also, none of these Galaxy S10 models is eligible for Samsung’s Android 13 update. The Galaxy S10 Lite is the only eligible model in the series, and it has already picked up the new Android version.
The Galaxy A40 is also not eligible for Android 13. Well, it didn’t even receive Android 12 and will end its life on Android 11. But the device is now getting the November SMR in Europe and South Korea. The updated firmware version for this mid-ranger in the two regions is A405FNXXU4CVK1 and A405SKSU5CVK1, respectively. Since the Galaxy A40 is also on quarterly security updates, it may or may not pick up the November SMR in other markets.
The Galaxy Tab S7 FE gets the November security update ahead of Android 13
The Galaxy Tab S7 FE is a relatively new device. Launched in May last year, the tablet arrived running Android 11 out of the box and has already received the update to Android 12. It will also get Android 13, which may roll out next month. But ahead of that, Samsung is rolling out the November security patch to the first-gen Fan Edition (FE) tablet. The update is available in pretty much the whole of Europe with firmware version T736BXXS1BVK8.
This tablet is also on quarterly security updates, so we can’t tell whether it will get the November SMR in other markets. But it will certainly pick up Android 13 globally. We will let you know as soon as Samsung releases the big Android update for the Galaxy Tab S7 FE.
