Samsung is rolling out a new software update to the Galaxy Buds Pro and the Galaxy Buds 2. It’s a minor update that brings some system stability and reliability improvements to the two pairs of TWS headphones from 2021. The official changelog doesn’t mention anything else, so don’t be hopeful for new features.
The latest update for the Galaxy Buds Pro and the Galaxy Buds 2 is already available to users globally over the air (OTA). The updated firmware versions for the two pairs are R190XXU0AVF1 and R177XXU0AVF1, respectively. The OTA package weighs 2.33MB for the former and 3.01MB for the latter, SamMobile reports. So it’s a fairly small update that you can download over cellular data.
As usual, you can download and install this update through the companion Galaxy Wearable app on your connected smartphone. Simply navigate to Earbuds settings > Earbuds software update and select the Update option. If you don’t see any available updates, check again sometime later. You can check if the latest update is already installed by confirming the aforementioned firmware versions.
Samsung launched the Galaxy Buds Pro early last year, alongside the Galaxy S21 series. It followed up with the Galaxy Buds 2 in August. The latter came alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 foldables. Both TWS models feature a dual-driver setup and come with Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. Key features include wear detection, active noise cancellation (ANC), three microphones, Ambient Mode, 360 Audio, Auto Switching, wireless charging, and an IP rating for dust and water resistance. The buds support AAC, SBC, and SSC audio codecs.
Samsung recently launched the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro
Samsung didn’t launch a new pair of TWS earbuds with the Galaxy S22 series earlier this year. But the company introduced the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 foldables a couple of weeks back. The latest offering brings a few notable upgrades over the original Galaxy Buds Pro. Most notably, it features Advanced Intelligent Active Noise Cancellation that can block the loudest external noise for an immersive listening experience. It also supports 24bit Hi-Fi processing so you get to listen to music in the purest form.
The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro boast a battery life of about eight hours (without ANC). With the case, they run for up to 29 hours on a single charge. Other highlights include HD Voice, 360 Audio with Direct Multi-Channel, 10mm drivers, Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, and an IP rating. Samsung has priced the new TWS pair at $229.
