The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 will come with Qi2 wireless charging, but probably not the version you want. This may sound confusing, and it kind of is, even though it shouldn’t be. Let me explain.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 has appeared on WPC with Qi2 support
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 has seemingly appeared on the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). A phone with a model number SM-D637U popped up, and it’s tagged as ‘coming soon’. That model number probably doesn’t mean much to you, but this does seem to be the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

The Samsung SM-D617D model number was used by WPC for the Galaxy Z Fold 5, while the SM-D269N was used for the Galaxy Z Fold SE. It does seem like Samsung is trying to keep things under wraps, which is why these model numbers are all over the place. This does point to Samsung’s upcoming foldables, though.
Now, some of you are probably thinking, great, it has Qi2 support. Well, it’ll probably have a poor version of it. By “poor”, I mean the Qi2 Ready variety, just like the Galaxy S25 series. We’re still not sure, but considering that the Galaxy S25 series offers it, we’re not seeing full-fledged Qi2 support being available on a foldable first. Especially considering the thinness of this smartphone.
It won’t come with a magnetic ring, which is not a surprise
If this does end up being a Qi2 Ready device, or should I say devices, you’ll need a compatible case in order to take advantage of Qi2 charging. The phone itself won’t come with a magnetic ring or anything like that.
Considering that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 will come with Qi2 support, chances are the same will happen with the Galaxy Z Flip 7. We’re pretty sure both will be Qi2 Ready, which is a shame, but… it is what it is. We do hope that the Galaxy S26 will launch with proper Qi2 support.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 are expected to launch next month. A recent report mentioned that both are coming in early July.
